When I was still in college, this was an assignment for an illustration based on a song, and I did 'Don't Fear the Reaper' by the Blue Oyster Cult. It's based pretty loosely but I wanted to depict the Reaper not as a being that should be feared but a sort of guide that escorts you to the afterlife or wherever. As for the left side, besides needing something of interest over there I thought it would look cool to have some monks carrying candles in a sort of funeral procession.
It is amazing that you understand the difference between reaper and death. Here you presented the reaper as what it is supose to be, a beautiful angle who helps people's souls move on. This artwork is astonishing, great work.
